Well, it’s 12:34AM. It is officially Dec 31st 2012, here in Toronto. And because one of my best friends was still stuck on what to wear on her face with her newly acquired NYE sequin dress… Thought I’d share my makeup tips. [Which by the way, is a service I offer, called "Makeup Wardrobing"-something I learned from my years with Nars Cosmetics. $80.00-$100 .00 per consult and demo application once you- and I (if you want) have put together up to 5 (inter-changeable) outfits from your wardrobe (or the mall). Could be for different events or office/work-wear/for an interview or a date/ Etc..]. Great private “makeup workshop” if you’re stuck in a rut or just want a personal stylist for what’s in your makeup bag!
Here’s the “Makeup Wardrobing” suggestion I gave her (based on her existing makeup collection). She has short stubborn lashes (like mine, in photo) so she’s going to give them a boost with a pair of false lashes (without the blingy gems). She’s gorgeous as it is, so my tip was to keep it “simple”.Nothing she’ll be too worried about in the midst of all the party schmoozing, dancing, champagne drinking and under the mistletoe-ing… (Do people still do that?)
This look is about: A fresh, flawless face with flushed cheeks. A pop of shimmery mauve pink blended on the center of lids on top of a creme base- MAC’s paint pot in Constructivist is a pretty burnished choco brown with slight shimmer. Urban Decay’s 24/7 long-wear pencil liner in Rockstar, a plum with tiny silver glitter, that catches the light, blended close to and into the roots of lashes. Defined eyes, vavavoom lashes that don’t look too “out to there”. Matte lips to balance the sparkly eyes. (And for longer kiss-proof-wear).
Balance: Go with a bold liquid liner in black along top lashes with a heavier coverage of the MAC paint pot with the shimmer crowning your iris -center of lower lids. Do this if you’re going to wear a more nude lip color, or keep the eyes defined softly with lashes and kohl liner and pair with bold lips. Fill and groom brows and set eyeliner and creme blush with blotting or setting powder.
